Just around the corner awaits one of Fordham’s most anticipated weekends, Spring Weekend. Just weeks after Spring Break, students will come together to watch musical artists perform at their own school! Consistently being one of the  most talked about events on campus, CAB (the campus club responsible for the big show) has big shoes to fill for this upcoming year. Let’s take a look at past performers that have visited Fordham for this event:

  • T-Pain
  • Olivia O’Brien
  • COIN
  • Cochise
  • U2
  • Twenty-One Pilots
  • Group Love
  • Matt and Kim

Bringing in big names allows CAB’s event to maintain a high status. The Concert selection process begins with a survey released in the beginning months of the academic year. Through the survey, the concert committee gets a firsthand account of the student body’s feelings on past concerts, and their hopes for the future ones.

When picking an artist, Fordham has shown time and time again that it tends to lean toward the indie vibe. This allows for a combination of different sounds and is often still enjoyable for people who might not visit the genre normally. With a hefty list of past talented artists this year’s performer is sure to impress.

In my opinion, I think it is best for CAB to steer towards the indie vibe, because certain indie artists do have large fan bases that can bring Rosehill opportunity for excitement. Beyond that, I think it best to pick a performer who falls into a more broad category, like most indie artists because students who may be more into rap, pop, country and other genres can still listen to this music and enjoy it. Something not too intense and that has a vibey presence that will perfectly complement spring weekend festivities. From looking back on past spring weekends, and current trends in the Fordham’s music community I would predict a strong mix of genres like 2023’s spring weekend with Rap (Cochise) and Indie Pop (Coin). Following this trend I would predict an artist akin to ‘Clairo’ or ‘Hippo Campus’ as the headliner with a strong opening artist from a differing genre like ‘country’- someone like Megan Moroney  or ‘hip-hop’- some akin to last year’s performer ‘Cochise’. Regardless, CAB’s concert committee has proven time and time again that they know what they are doing and this year’s artist will be no exception to the sensational concerts of the past.
